Tommy White update/interview on Magic Fire

Hi Friends,

Although not fully recovered Tommy sat a whole rehearsal behind his kit...and that's where we like to see him...and played a complete set with the band. So things start to look better.
This doesn't mean that Tommy will play in 013, for this gig we can still trust on Eelco's talent, which he already showed us in Baroeg.

Speaking 'bout Tommy, here's a cool interview with the man.
Enjoy.

A few weeks back I was sent a CD from Mark Mendieta, who is for the most part, Subject To Thoughts. Mark is credited for writing all of the music & lyrics, but the guitar solos were writen by Brandon Strader, who also sings most of the v… Continue

PETER GABRIEL – SCRATCH MY BACK

With only 2 months to go until the release of 'Scratch My Back' on January 25th 2010, details are gradually escaping the studio. Peter states on his website We thought we'd open the door a little wider here. You may have seen the now finalised track-listing and running-order we published in the 'news' section - if so, it will be no surprise to read that the album will feature Peter's recordings of Heroes (David Bowie), The Boy in the Bubble (Paul Simon), Mirrorball (Elbow), Flume (Bon Iver), Listening Wind (Talking Heads), The Power of the Heart (Lou Reed), My Body is a Cage (Arcade Fire), The Book of Love (The Magnetic Fields), I Think it's Going to Rain Today (Randy Newman), Après Moi (Regina Spektor), Philadelphia (Neil Young) and Street Spirit (Fade Out) (Radiohead).

Peter describes this as a very personal record with the twelve songs performed only with orchestral instruments and voice. To help craft the recording Peter enlisted John Metcalfe as composer/arranger, the expertise of producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’, Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin’) and the engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits).

'Scratch My Back' was recorded at George Martin’s Air Lyndhurst Studios and the Real World Temple with further editing back here at Real Worlds Studios in Wiltshire. Those lucky enough to be at last summers WOMAD Charlton Park got a preview of the record when Peter opened his set with Paul Simon's 'The Boy In The Bubble' and 'The Book of Love' from The Magnetic Fields.

VISION DIVINE - EUROPEAN TOUR CANCELLED!

According to a post on myspace Vision Divine are very sorry for the abrupt cancellation regarding their tour with Angra

As VISION DIVINE, we would only like to specify that this
tour was not under our direct control, and we had no power at
all to avoid the cancellation of the shows, which were
already scheduled and for which many people (regretfully)
already bought the tickets and in some cases even booked
hotels.

VISION DIVINE was not managing the shows, nor we were
supposed to be the main band; we received the same official
statement (without any official or further explanation)
regarding this cancellation on Sat 14th,without anything
which we could do or propose in order to avoid it.

Even if not responsible for this cancellation, we apologize
with the many people who are complaining about what
happened, and we promise you that we will do our best in
order to recoup at least part of these shows.

Thank you for the many messages of support. We are glad to
see that you understood the situation, and that we are
victims as well of something which we couldn't control in
any way.

See you soon
Vision Divine
